Edward P. Stencel

Edward P. Stencel earned his Masters in Film and Television Production from the University of Bristol, England after receiving his BA (Economics) in 1988 from the University of Michigan. He has worked in the professional and independent film industry as a producer, director, and cinematographer for the past fourteen years. In 2005 Edward became the Senior Executive Vice President of the newly formed distribution company, Lonely Seal Releasing (LSR).

For the last nine years he has been on the Board of Directors and Vice President of the Kansas City Filmmakers Jubilee. In 1996 Edward founded and was the Director of the Indy Film Showcase, which screened feature independent films with the directors in attendance from around the country once a month in Kansas City. Mr. Stencel also serves on the Board of Directors of the Temecula Valley International Music and Film Festival as well as the Advisory Board of the Kansas International Film Festival.As a producer and director his films have won awards at film festival in the US and Europe. Some of these festivals include, Arizona International Film Festival, SXSW, Chicago Underground Film Festival, Festival International Du Film Independent Bruselles Belgium, and Avignon Film Festival in France. Edward was also nominated for a 2002 IDA Award for “Shades of Gray”, which won Best Documentary at the Temecula Valley International Film Festival in 2001.Edward has lectured and/or participated as a panelist for many organizations including University of Southern California, University of Bristol, University of Missouri – Kansas City, Kansas City Filmmakers Jubilee, Slamdance Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival, The Los Angeles Film School, American Pavilion Summer Program, San Diego State University, Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, and many others.

Mr. Stencel worked as the first Filmmaker Advisor at IFP Los Angeles and currently serves as a freelance Film Festival and Line Producer Consultant for Film Independent (formerly IFP Los Angeles). Edward has written for MovieMaker Magazine. He also has worked as the Executive Producer of FesTV for the Los Angeles Film Festival, and producer/director on the segment bolexbrother for John Pierson’s Split Screen.
